Creating teens room design is fun, but it is also not easy. Teens no longer see themselves as kids so they certainly no longer want something cute. It means, kids room design with too vibrant of a color will no longer work on them.
However, they are also not an adult yet so they will hate simple and minimalist style that is the main characteristic of adult master bedroom design. Therefore, the design for your teens’ room must be able to take the best of both worlds and here are how you do it.
Go Easy on the Theme …
Don’t get this wrong. Just because you should go easy on the theme, it doesn’t mean that you cannot incorporate in the teen’s bedroom. As a matter of fact, theme is very important for teenager’s bedroom because it is the one that will show their personality. However, you shouldn’t go overboard.
If your teenage child loves the forest theme, you can put pretty rope lightings on the wall, some moonlight lamp on the floor and desk as well as shades of green here and there. You shouldn’t use going overboard by putting synthetic grass carpet, small tent or tree house shaped bunk bed. Remember, you are creating a bedroom for teenager, not a baby nursery bedroom design.
But Don’t be Afraid to Be Bold
Just because you should take the theme in a different direction, it doesn’t mean that you should be subtle. Teens room design should be bold and it must be able to show the personality of the owner of the room. If your child is an artistic teenager, let him fill one side of his room with cool graffiti. If she is still a princess at heart, give her a room full with pink furniture. Don’t be afraid to be bold if it is able to make the room screams their personality.
Multi-Purpose Room is the Best
Remember, you are not creating a guest bedroom design here where you can keep the furniture to the bare minimum. It is a bedroom where your teenage children will do their activities. Teenagers always have plenty of things to do. They need to study, sometimes hangout with their friend in their bedroom and of course it must be their place to sleep. You need to make a multi-purpose room, maybe something like loft style bedroom design. It is an important aspect of teens room design which will give them the utmost privacy and also the best space to do their activities.
